Dermal Fillers

As you age, your face loses collagen and elastin, the two elements that give fullness and elasticity to your skin. As a result, not only does your facial skin begin to sag and wrinkle, but your cheeks start to “hollow out”. In the past, the only treatment to bring youthful resilience back was surgery. However, in recent years physicians have begun to use dermal fillers to increase volume in the cheeks, lips, and areas around the eyes, nose and mouth. This safe, non-allergenic treatment provides immediate and natural-looking results. At Maples Surgical Centre, we offer hyaluronic fillers such as Restylan, Perlane, and Juvederm to naturally stimulate the body to produce its own collagen.

Choose Maples Surgical Centre with Confidence

Dermal filler treatments are effectively and safely performed at our state of the art facility in Winnipeg M.B, by board certified surgeons whose medical skill and training ensures that you achieve natural and beautiful results.

About the Treatment

Dermal filler treatments are non-surgical, requiring an injection of a semi-permanent, soft tissue filler under the skin. The treatments are done at our state-of-the-art medical facility by a board-certified facial surgeon. Restylane, Perlane, and Juvederm injections take 30 minutes to an hour from start to finish. You will typically be able to return to your normal activities immediately. Any discomfort you experience will be no more than some mild, temporary redness following the treatment.

Restylane is a clear, non-animal based gel that is most commonly used to smooth out wrinkles and folds around the lower portion of the face. It’s also used to shape the cheeks and chin, reduce forehead lines, and rejuvenate the back of the hands. It is popularly used for increasing the volume and fullness of the lips.

Perlane is similar to Restylane, but its particles are larger, making it more effective for reducing deep, large wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds, forehead lines, and the lines that run from the corners of the mouth to the chin. Other common uses include lip enhancement, and the softening of acne and other facial scars.

There are two types of Juvederm: Juverderm Ultra, which is used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles on the face and to add fullness to the lips; and Juvederm Ultra Plus, which is used to improve the appearance of deeper wrinkles. Juvederm is the first hyaluronic acid dermal filler with published studies on its safety and effectiveness in individuals with dark skin.

Your Results

With Restylane, Perlane and Juvederm, the difference in appearance is immediately evident. Lips are plumper, cheeks are fuller and smile lines and wrinkles are less evident. In the following weeks, your skin will continue to improve as deep lines and wrinkles gradually diminish. Depending on your skin, lifestyle and age, you may choose to have a touch-up treatment within a year.
